A great day!

Yesterday, Saturday, was just about the perfect day in all regards. The sun was shining, it was hot, but not too hot, the humidity was low, the sky was a gorgeous shade of blue. We accomplished our usual Saturday chores and had time for a cat nap in the sun. Then, we got ready for our street's annual block party. What a fun night! We are so blessed to have found such a great neighborhood. The people who live on this street take such pride in their homes, the village, and the neighborhood. It's a great community of people and friends.
Everyone brings a dish to share and their own lawnchairs, utensils and beverages. The Village allows us to block off the street so the kids have a hayday riding bikes, playing ball and galavanting around the street. Addie, in particular, LOVED it... she must have been so tired from all of her bike riding - with old friends and new. Lovely, lovely evening. It was a chance to catch up with neighbors and meet some new folks who have moved in recently.
A highlight of the evening was when the firetruck made its appearance - the kids were so excited. Jack was speechless.... it was great! The got a hands-on tour of the truck and all of the kids got to "drive" it ( or at least sit in the driver's seat!). Great fun!
By the way... Ruby got to attend this year's party, too... such a good dog! She had fun giving everyone a lick and then chasing the ball that someone would inevitably throw for her. And, bedtime was pushed back to 10pm for Addie... needless to say, she fell fast asleep!
